Yimo 's Ceramic Art
Chen
Yimo,native of Boshan,Shandong Province,bron in September 1935.He
was admitted into the Central Institute of Arts and Crafts in 1958
and had the luck to be taught by Prof. Zhang Jinghu and Prof.Lei
Guiyuan.Now an arts and crafts master of China,senior arts and
crafts artist,he is a standing council member of the Designers
Association aunder the Chinese Arts and Crafts Society, member of
the Shandong artists Association,deputy president of the Shandong
Ceramic Association and chairman of the Arts Committee of the
Association, He was appointed on the Assessment Cmmittee of the
Chinese Ceramic Association and enjoys specil State Council
allowance as aspecialst with outstanding accomplishment in 2002.
In his 60 years of career in the field of ceramic art,Chen Yimo has
made more than 400 pieces and sets of innovative artistic works and
among them 98 have won national or provincial prizes. His”piate
with a dragon in relief”,"plate of oriole under water” and
“cup of fire god”won first pirze at a national innovation
ceramic art products Contest and his works entitled “Balance”
and General Zhang Fei won glod medal at the 1992 and 1993 Chinese
Zibo International Ceramic and Glass Art Fair. His”Bottle of
Celestial Globe” won a grand prize at the 1991 Jingdezhen
International Classic Ceramic Products Fair and his series of
dragon-design chinaware dinner sets for state banquets won a special
award at the 2001 Chain Zibo International Ceramic Art Fair. His
works “Monument of the Century” and “Balance”are now kept in
the collection of the Museum of Chinese History and his “plate
with adragon in relief” is kept by the Tresure Haii of Chinese
Arts and Crafts.
The Serial Books of Chinese Arts and Carfts 2nd Series, in 1994
published photos of 18 of Chen Yimo s works including “Zhang
heng”, “longevity Vase” and “Ostrich”.The Complete
Collection of Modern Chinese Arts published in 1998 inculudes photos
of his three works “Plate with Dragon in Relief”,Zebras”and
Vase of Two Cranes”.His work “Balance” was on display in
Nagoya for a long time after winning general approval at the 1992
Japanese International Ceramic Art Exposition. Chen Yimo has been known for his boundless artistic thinking, varied motifs and skill,an elegant artistic style and a profound cultural tempering that goes with the tide of time. ChenYimo's Art (1)
